About Me
Hi, I’m Jered!
I’m the voice, author, creator, and photographer behind Flavor Ratios.
My love for food started early on in life when I joined the military. I had the opportunity to travel all over Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. My travels allowed to me enjoy many different types of food from all over the globe.
I developed a love for cooking, starting with BBQ, about a year before retiring from the Air Force, while stationed in San Antonio, Texas (home of the best BBQ in the world, in my humble opinion). What started as a small hobby, quickly turned into a full-blown passion!
After retiring from the Air Force, I attended Johnson & Wales University, where I obtained a bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts and Food Service Management.
When working in the food service industry, oftentimes, creativity is not allowed because consistency is key.
After working in kitchens of small cafes to nationally ranked steakhouses, I decided to take my love for food online and highlight the real kitchen heroes… the home cooks!
