Where Does Fruit Salad Come From and what is it?

There are many different types of salad, fruit salad is one of them. According to many historians, salads date back to the ancient Romans and Greeks. Many of the first salads were pretty basic, but as time went on, salads became more complex, and additional ingredients were added.

The fruit salad was traditionally made with fresh and seasonal fruits that have been mixed together. Different types of dressings (just as with traditional salads) are often used. The type of dressing and fruits that are used should always be based on personal preference.

Featured Ingredient – Mint

Mint has so many different uses in many different applications, from healing properties to brushing our teeth. Mint has just as many culinary uses as it does other applications.

Personally, I love mint! The sweet & cool taste of mint, adds a different level of flavor to any dish that is unmatched by any other ingredient.

It was difficult to decide which dish to make using mint because (as I said earlier) everything with mint is so so delicious! With the warm weather we’ve been having lately, I figured fruit salad would be the perfect, flavorful choice.

Variations

The variations of this recipe are as limitless as the use of mint, itself. You can add nuts, granola, syrup, dried fruits, etc.

Cool whip! My fiance and I recently stayed at a Marriot hotel in Boston, and they had this amazing breakfast Buffet! Each day I got something different but one thing that remained constant was the fresh fruit. I always helped myself to a side of whatever fresh fruit they had for the day and topped it off with a big ole dollop of you guessed it… Cool whip!
